    Here it is!

I am 30 years old with a  fantastic husband and an awesome daughter. I am in school working towards a degree in Nursing. I have been working at it for what feels like an eternity... God willing, I will survive and come out on top. Life is really hard when you go at it backwards. I am currently the Office Manager for a Podiatry clinic in Austin. I have been in this position for the last seven years, which is actually what set me on the path of Nursing. I can't wait!

You will survive! Being an office manager is great preparation- I'm sure you've had to juggle multiple tasks and delegate responsibility- you've had plenty of practice! ;)

I've realized recently that the area of nursing you end up with really depends on your personality traits.
~ Do you like schedules? If you have ten things to do today, would you rather do all of them RIGHT NOW and get them done or plan your day around these ten things? If you'd rather do them now, ER is a good choice. If you like to plan things out, MED/SURG is a good pick. Do you mind when things are not organized? If it drives your crazy, ER is not for you. If you are very organized but hate having to schedule things, ICU works.
I hate trying to schedule things, which is why I love the ER. In Med/surg, you have six patients who need meds or procedures at set times, so you have to figure out what to do with who and when. In the ER, the doctor writes five things that need to be done, and the only planning required is to figure out which thing is most important to do first- other than that, you do everything all at once until you are done. I also like the comfort of having plenty of doctors around in the ER. I just pick up the phone, overhead page for help, and I can have five doctors at the bedside in less than ten seconds. It's an extra security blanket for me. I also think that the ER will help prepare me for having children in the future- I'm learning how to handle the little crisises that occur- cuts, broken bones, etc.

    Good luck with things!!
