    I've never been so nervous...

I apply for the Nursing Program in a couple of weeks. I am pretty sure that I will get in. I'm just having a hard time waiting. Last time I applied, I knew I wouldn't get in because I still had some corequisite courses to finish up. I did that and ended up pretty happy with my GPA, so I am thinking i'll be starting the program in August. In the meantime..... I am going a little nuts! So I decided to pass some time on the internet. I found live spaces by reading some blogs from other Nursing students and graduates. It is helping and I appreciate all of the advice from anyone who wants to give it. I am not a person who likes to wait, especially six months at a time. I have so many quesions, but no answers for any of them. What about the bills once I get in, or how the heck am I going to pay for the education? Clueless! I know it's going to work out no matter what, but having everything in the air at once is crazy. I'm ready now, does anyone else feel this way? Any advice?

Some hospitals will help pay for your tuition if you sign a contract to work for them for a specified number of years after you graduate. You might want to contact some hospitals in your area and see if any of them have such a plan. I remember being nervous about school too, but trust me, you will make it through somehow! One thing you can do is work as a clinical tech on a med-surg floor during school. I think you can get certified for it by taking a several - weeks long class. This way you can make some money and really learn the hands-on stuff ahead of your classmates. You will be more comfortable and have an easier time learning in nursing school if you already have the basics down.

Hi!  Thanks for stopping in at my site.  I remember how frustrated I was while I had to wait to get into the program and then once I got in I was soooo nervous!  I still get nervous because I still feel I don't know a whole lot. Some of my classmates seem so ahead of the game since they've had some sort of nursing experience.  The only experience I had was working for a group of neurologist.  I learned alot there but always wanted to be a nurse.  Whilie you are waiting you may want to get a drug book and familarize yourself with all the medication out there.  I don't know if you have taken pharmacology yet, but for me that was the toughest class so far.  I am re-taking it this semester and this time around it all is sinking in and making sense.  Another suggestion is if you have time, go by your local bookstore and browse the medical books. Last night I went to Border's to do some careplans and used their books more than my own.  It was great.  I better go as my son is jumping on me right now (soexcuse all  the type-o's).  Good luck and keep in touch!
